Jonathan Glassner said that the stunt crew was surprised by how well Jessica did during her initial lesson. The Outpost is her first significant role in the US because her earlier movies were in Australia. Jessica's skills in mixed martial, weapons and horse riding, along with her ability to do stunts, provide her to portray an impressive female character. She's studied boxing and muay Thai in Australia in addition to training at a mixed-martial training facility for martial arts. Jake Stormoen was working on the Season 4 set when he met a wandering dog. This dog was actually a stray puppy that had been living in a set. Jessica accepted two pups.
